I'm in college dicking around, thinking about what I want for a major. I'm pretty good with most digital manipulation stuff, heck the one picture I have up that I edited took 10 minutes. Well 3 hours if you include the fact I was fooling around with all sorts of editing styles.
I like drawing but I just have bad hand writing which trades off into my drawings. There's also photography but I don't want to sit there taking pictures claiming to be a professional, I actually want them to be good pictures. I have an SLR and like 3 points and shoots and when some one asks me what's my level in photography I always just say novice.
I know how aperture, ISO, focal length, filters, hoods, flash ( I own a few strobe lights). I know how they all work but it seems easy to me. I have allot of friends on facebook that photo edit their pictures because it's soo easy now. Their pictures come out great but they don't even know what shutter speed is or ISO. Or how the image is reflected in an SLR prism view finder so you see what the camera sees.
I understand experience works best in allot of cases but it seems like proper education and being taught in a college settings is becoming pointless now a days. I don't even know the point any more where a person shooting pictures ends and a photographer begins. Well I'm always never satisfied with my work, lol, so I guess I will always be a novice even 30 years from now if I continue this path. I don't even know why I'm writing this rant. hmmmmmmmm.......
I could go into 3d Animation. lets see some one pick that up just by buying a camera and taking a black and white picture. lol :-D
